Misread

Misread

September 2016

A woman’s visit to the library suddenly becomes an adventure through space and time when a book transports her into its world – and the worlds of other books.

Misread premiered at the 2016 Dragon Con Independent Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia and was an Official Selection at the 2016 Halloween International Film Festival in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.

Behind the scenes of Misread

Setting-up a shot
Checking a test photo before filming.
My equipment for the 'desert' shoot
I shot the Egyptian desert scene at Jockey’s Ridge on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. In the background are Roanoke Sound and Roanoke Island. Note the plastic bags: a must-have for keeping sand out!
Getting ready to shoot a scene on the beach
Getting ready to shoot the Robinson Crusoe scene on the beach in Corolla, North Carolina.
Caught by the tide while filming on the beach
The tide was beginning to come in while I was filming and a few overzealous waves got me. It was late November and very cold! I’m sure I looked silly lying on the beach fully dressed, halfway in the frigid water, with a camera in my face. The last photo in the sequence turned out to be my favorite image that I captured making Misread.
